The Aviator Sunglass Season

So here it is, day of Summer here in North America and it's a beautiful, sunny day here in Northern California. A day that's perfect for a sharp pair of sunglasses. And according to MR Magazine, Aviator sunglasses are still one of the hottest looks around. Interestingly enough, the feature pictured below mentions the A. Kurtz sunglass line, but suggests the fashionistas try the Rothco brand as it's "the real thing".

SHEMAGH Function or Fashion?

In the military clothing business we are sometimes fortunate to come across old school items that become a hit with the soldiers. Other times, a military item will crossover and become a big hit with the fashion market. Rarely, if ever, will an item be hot in both areas at the same time.

Right now is one of those rare times when we've found an item that's in great demand by both military personnel and fashionistas, and that item is the Shemagh! Rothco Products Featured in ASI's Wearables Magazine

Yes, indeed, Rothco products is everywhere once again. This time in the Advertising Specialty Institute's (ASI) magazine Wearables . In fact, we are all over the magazine, with five products in this month's issue.

In their Fashion Sense section there is a section on military trends with Rothco's Booty Camp Shorts and our hard to get Shemaghs.

The Hot Product Showcase section focuses on Footwear and Socks and features our Woodland Camo Slip-On Sneakers and Pink Camo Hi-Top Sneakers. They also show our Wigwam All Terrain Hiker Socks and tout their CoolMax moisture wicking properties.

Rothco Items in Magazines & Movies

Here are a few quick bits of Rothco products in a leading fashion trade publication and a couple of recent movies.

First, there are a couple of pictures of Rothco's Black Jungle Boots in MR Magazine's Fall 2009 Menswear review. The first, in an image called "Dark Star Rising" features our Jungle Boots with in a mostly black ensemble of "functional" garments.

The second is certainly one of the most unique uses of Jungle Boots I've ever seen, worn with a nylon jacket and a pair of board shorts.

Below are a couple of more pictures from the film "Notorious" which chronicles the life and death of Brooklyn rapper Biggie Smalls aka the Notorious B.I.G. In pictures from the movie, as reported by Rothco sales associate Brian Kearney, Biggie is clearly wearing a Rothco Fatigue Cap and M-65 Field Jacket. A great example of the influence military clothing has had on hip-hop fashion over the years.

Rothco Products on Vibe Magazine

Yet another media appearance by Rothco Items, this time in hip-hop magazine, Vibe, in their "We Know What You're Doing This Summer" style preview.

In the article, the Vibe style folks describe various personalities, the gear they'll be wearing, their music, their activities, etc. For "The Philly Skateboarder" they picked the Rothco Vintage Infantry Utility Short as "the" garment of choice this summer.
